I’m kind of an electronics freak, and I tend to hook stuff up around my house just because I can. This was the case Saturday. My daughter and I put a new garage door switch in my Ford Explorer. So what the hell is that?

Well, I bought a momentary push button switch from Radio Shack and installed it in the console of my Explorer. I ran the two wires into my garage door opener remote and soldered them onto the contacts, so that when I push the button, my garage door opens. The actual remote is hidden in the glove box, and the new button is mounted nicely in the console between the front seats. It looks professional and works great.
