Barry Bonds is the king

posted on Wednesday, August 8th, 2007 at 12:14 am

At 10:51pm central time tonight, Barry Bonds broke Hank Aaron’s career home run record in a game where the San Francisco Giants lost to the visiting Washington Nationals 8-6. Bonds hit his 756th career home run, and he deserves to be honored for that.

Though it’s not been proven, many people believe that he has used steroids, and therefore does not deserve credit for the home run record. Fans in attendance at recent games have even held up posters with an asterisk on them.

So how do I feel? Well, if Bonds is ever proven to have used illegal steroids, and as a result, MLB decides to remove certain home runs from his record, then I’ll rethink. In the mean time, every one of those home runs counted. Bonds was awarded a run for each one, plus any RBIs appropriate. They all counted in the games, and they all count now.

Congrats Barry.
