If you’re a regular Twitter user, then you’re familiar with retweets. And though you may know how to retweet, do you know what a retweet means?
I retweet quite often, and occasionally, followers who see my retweets are quick to jump to the conclusion that I believe or agree with what was said in the retweet. [...]

I’m trying out another new app on my iPod Touch today. This one’s called BlogWriter. It allows me to write blog entries that get published from my device. No need to visit my web site.
This blog is a self-hosted WordPress blog, so I’m pleased to see that it works well with my setup.

Something funky happened on my Touch a couple days ago. I had had about 5GB of music and videos on there, along with photos, apps and other content. After syncing, I noticed that it now had no music or videos, but 5GB of stuff in the “Other” category of the iTunes capacity meter.
All of the [...]

I’ve had my new iPod Touch for a week now, and I love it. It’s small and has tons of great applications available. But I’m up against a problem that I’ve had for years. I’m a Windows user and I hate Outlook.
First, I’ll explain that last sentence, since people frequently ask me about it. I [...]

I’ve had a problem receiving text messages for a month or so now. I only receive some, and others just never make it. Specifically, I stopped receiving any tweets from Twitter 4-5 weeks ago. And when I send a message to 4INFO, I no longer get a reply. And some automated alerts I get from [...]

About 90 minutes ago, all major news networks called the U.S. presidential election, affirming that Sen. Barack Obama will be the next president of the United States.
Well, I did not vote for President-Elect Barack Obama. I simply disagree with his position on many issues, and I question whether he’ll be able to do many of [...]

Twice this week now, I come downstairs to my office before going to work, and find that my computer rebooted overnight. So I just went into the Automatic Update settings in the control panel, and found that something changed my settings to “Bend Over.” Yeah yeah, Microsoft calls it “Automatic”, but the better name for [...]

I’ve got some pretty slick score updates for the Anaheim Angels coming to my cell phone now-a-days. I’ve been subscribed to game updates through Yahoo Alerts for several years. Now I’ve set it up so that when an update is sent, it goes to a program on my web server first, which parses the text [...]

Several weeks ago, I tried to buy a Dell laptop for my daughter who’s heading out to college this fall. I was on the Dell web site. I had a system selected, a Dell Latitude D830, all customized and ready for purchase. But the one thing I wanted that their web site was not allowing [...]

At some point recently, I allowed a Windows update that upgraded my Internet Explorer to version 7. This version sucks worse than any other version. I usually don’t care because I’ve been a Firefox user for years. But my bank’s online tools have a glitch, and they will only work in IE. So I have [...]

On August 1, 2000 I bought my first PDA, a Handspring Visor Deluxe. Actually, ten years earlier, I had purchased a Casio B.O.S.S., but my Visor was the first device I had that synchronized with my computer. So I’ve been keeping my calendar and contacts on some kind of electronic device for 18 years.
I’ve gotten [...]

I’ve been messing around with various methods of creating videos for YouTube for about a year and a half now. I’ve had varying success, but I recently started taking recorded DVDs and putting clips on YouTube. And the process has been clumsy, until now.
Here’s my situation. I bought a video capture card three years ago, [...]
