If you’re just stopping by my web site for the first time, perhaps you can tell that I’m a Republican. But if you’ve been following this blogger for some time, I hope you’ve also learned that I’m not a party line Republican. I’ve voted for Democrats when I’ve felt that they were the best choice. And unlike many of my fellow Republican bloggers, I’m not out to bash Democrats exclusively; I will criticize Republicans when they deserve it. This blog entry is one such entry.
The state of North Carolina is electing a governor. Election day is November 4, 2008, the same day as the American presidential election. As I write this there are 3 Democrats, 5 Republicans and 1 Libertarian in the race. So, if the Republican Party of North Carolina were to run some TV ads, wouldn’t it be great to tell the voters all about the Republican candidates, what they stand for, why they deserve their votes? Apparently not.
Instead, they’ve decided to run an attack ad against candidates Lieutenant Governor Beverly Perdue and State Treasurer Richard Moore. Okay, fine, I don’t like it, but they’re doing it. Now, how should the attack ad sound? Maybe criticize a decision they’ve made in their current roles in state government? Nope. Maybe highlight an important state issue along with how these two candidates’ position is wrong? Nope. You wouldn’t believe me if I told you, so please click the image to watch this video for yourself.
When you started playing it, did you think it was the wrong ad? I couldn’t believe it when I saw it. The NC GOP says don’t vote for these two Democrats because they support Barak Obama for president, and Obama’s pastor said some bad things about America! Who chooses a political candidate based on these criteria? If you answered “I do”, then shame on you.
So if I run for office, and someone finds out that a pastor at one of the churches I’ve belonged to did something bad, then none of my supporters are worthy of running for office themselves. Linda Daves (NC GOP Chairman), you should be ashamed of yourself. You’re a disgrace to our party.
