I loved singing with three other guys in our barbershop quartet. We were together
for about 8 years and performed mostly in northeast Wisconsin and occasionally
in various locations throughout the state. While we no longer perform together,
I still love listening to the harmony we made at many events over the years.
One such performance was a guest appearance at the Allouez Village Band (now the All Volunteer Band) concert at the Meyer Theater on April 17, 2006. Here are a couple of the songs we shared:
It Is Well With My Soul
Danny Boy
While we had a lot of fun performing, we also had some pretty epic rehearsals (and we have the recordings to prove it). Like this one on Monday, March 26, 2007. We were working on a new song called "Frog Kissin'"; it wasn't done yet, but we sure enjoyed figuring out our parts and tempo:
And we even did a commercial for Cruise In Diner in Kaukauna, WI. They closed not long after it aired (so perhaps it backfired), but we sure had fun. And yes, they let us eat the food when we were done.
The other three guys were Brian O'Neil, Chris Nimmer, and Kelly Vandehy. When we started in 2000, our bass was Jack O'Neil; he was followed by Nathan Falk and then when we got Kelly, we really started humming on all cylinders. Much more info about our quartet, our performances, the audience comments we received, and even some more music are all available over on the GQ4 website.
